Beyond the Milk

Oh, Hello

I know, I know…I’ve been slacking on writing here pretty bad. The podcast has been taking up a lot of time lately and several other projects just keep pushing other (read "less vital") things further and further down.

But I would like to offer you a few words on some entertainment I’ve been enjoying.

David Crowder Band* Remedy

First off, 2007 was a very disappointing musical year to me. There were very few good albums and especially disappointing was the dismal Singularity album by Mae. However there was at least one saving album which came in the form of The David Crowder* Band’s Remedy. Buy it, it’s beautiful.

Two movies have also recently captured my heart in Cloverfield and Juno.

Cloverfield is just very hard to not become immersed in. It’s made like to feel like it would if this were to ever happen in real life both for those experiencing it and for everyone who would see this video, say on the news or in a government file. It really just felt real.

And as for Juno, maybe the best movie of 2007. Ok, I haven’t seen No Country for Old Men yet, but at least temporarily I will give it the #1 spot. Despite it’s flaw (and yes, it does only have one) it really becomes a story that is just honest. Sometimes I just get tired of movies that have to say something, but this movie says something inherantly. The message isn’t forced and doesn’t force anything on the viewer.

Cloverfield Juno

I don’t want to become a movie review blog, but that’s about the only interesting thing I’ve had time to do lately so there it is…enjoy.

  2. once you’ve seen no country for old men…then we’ll talk.

and we’ll be talking about how amazing it is and how crazy it is that you hadn’t seen it for so long and how silly that was. to not have seen it for so long.

we’ll be talking about this, you know.

  3. Cloverfield was so great that it beat the hype in my opinion. Fantastic execution of a viral marketing campaign as well.

    Everybody calls it Colossus now

I also have not seen no country for old men, fly down here and lets watch it.
