So I promised to start blogging a little over a month ago, and then a funny thing happened. Neil Greathouse and New Life Church offered me a job in Little Rock/Conway Arkansas.

Well, as most of you probably know by now, I took it. I’ve been here for two weeks now and it’s been nuts! Here’s what I’ve been up to all, of which I will elaborate on soon:

1. Moving in to my new place. Those of you who have asked can get my address on my Facebook page.

2. Working on a motion graphics video for our upcoming dirt conference.

3. Promoting that conference this last week at the ARC All Access Conference which will be hosted at NLC in 2010 (has been moved to Bethany World Prayer Center in Baton Rouge).

4. Running around doing my regular duties as a Video/Graphics person on the Creative Arts Team.

5. Avoiding picking up any hints of an accent like the swine flu.

Again, more elaboration to come and hopefully some pictures of where I live and work. Also, I hope you like the new layout of the site!

So remember that DRM stuff that used to be on all the music you bought online?

If things keep going this way I hope to be able to really say that statement above by the year 2009. If you are one of those people who still doesn’t know what DRM is…please pay attention for 2 min. DRM is that stuff that is added to a song you buy online that keeps you from using it however you want. Say you can only use the song on an iPod or no more than 3 computers ever for example. Some people may never notice that there’s DRM, but you should because its annoying.

	     				    	Close

</highslide>

As I wrote about earlier iTunes now has their "iTunes plus" which is also DRM free featuring the EMI music catalouge. Well another of the big four has jumped on the bandwagon without Apple’s iTunes as Amazon.com is now in the game with both EMI’s and Universal’s all DRM free. This is awesome so go buy some to let the other two (Sony BMG and Warner) know this is what we want!

I am excited about Project 86′s new album for two reasons.

1. It is an album from one of my favorite bands ever, so that’s always a good thing.

2. It is sold DRM free on the iTunes Plus music store. And since I refuse to buy DRM’d music, this is also a very good thing.

So go tell the music companies that you like DRM free music by buying this and many other albums there.

Also, coming June 27th is Blindside‘s (my favorite band) EP album The Black Rose. Always love albums from this band, and if you haven’t already, check out The Great Depression.

You can also buy the new Norah Jones album on the iTunes Plus store. I mean, who doesn’t like Norah, right?

Bad news. We recorded a final overview of the last day and show as a whole in the car on the way home, but when I got back to put it up it crashed and went away (sad face). Anyway, all we saw on the last day was Skillet who I thought sounded great, and even Isaac found a small place in his heart for them. Our top three bands for the whole festival were as follows:

Mine:

3. Falling Up – Sounded awesome but used too many pre-recorded laptop tracks to make the ‘live’ part truly awesome.

2. Project86 – One of my favorite bands of all time, always excellent live.

1. David Crowder* Band – Really knows how to play live, great sound, great music.

Isaac:

3. Thousand Foot Krutch

2. Family Force 5

1. Chris Tomlin

That is all for the Ichthus 2007 reporting. Hope you enjoyed the recordings.

I absolutely love music. I don’t obsess over knowing all the "latest" bands or finding the most bands nobody’s ever heard of, but I can totally get lost in good music. Everything from Damien Rice to Demon Hunter from Mae to Blindside, it just has to get me going either lyrically, musically, or both. So here’s a little news from me on the music front:

Remember Adelynne Drive? Well the band has officially befome defunked after their show for Cedarville’s Black Savvy was sadly cancelled. I recently discovered that the band has resurfaced with a new name and myspace, Anthem fro Romance. They have a lot of their old songs posted, and even good new one, "Closure."

iTunes Plus has been released to the world! This means you can now buy EMI’s entire music library DRM free. No DRM on the music means you can buy it and do whatever you want with it. Good news for people who are maybe not the biggest fans of the iPod or think they might go through more than five computers in their lifetime. I bought the new Norah Jones.

Finally, I will be reporting on Ichthus with my trusted music specialist, Isaac Pittman which starts tomorow and goes through Saturday night. I will be doing a recorded recap of the festival each day which I am unsure if I will be able to post or not until I get back depending on the availability of internet down there. So don’t change that dial!

Alright, I know most of you don’t really care about Elliv and promise this is the last time I write about it, but I poured so much into it and it was so amazing I just want everyone to see it! So finally some of the acts have been leaked from our video production team and they ae much better than those other ones I posted. I know I’ve posted a lot of videos lately, but seriously, this one is a must see! I still can’t get enough of it! Ladies and gentlemen, I present Elliv 2007′s final act:

There’s also two other acts from the video crew that have leaked: Love Addict, and our very own Adam Hundley playing Times Like These.

A lot of people wonder why I’m so busy. I tried to figure out what happens with all my time once and I still have no clue. However, I can tell you exactly what I was consumed with all this weekend: Elliv. It’s basically a huge awards/entertainment show here at Cedarville University. This year was the biggest it has ever been (and hopefully ever will be for my sake).

To give you an idea of the hugeness of this project, I logged a total of 53.5 hours in 3 days, about 75% of the hours possible in that time. By the time we had to tear it all down we could barely walk. Honestly though, it was all worth it. Just to hear the reaction and even to see it for myself. It was way more amazing than these YouTube videos can describe (so hopefully I can get a better copy eventually) but enjoy them as much as you can.

A genre near and dear to my heart is quickly becoming more mainstream than any other Christian genre. I think it’s partly due to the lack of good hardcore in the big record labels, something they seem to be shying away from more and more. The latest place I noticed some good Christian hardcore was on a video podcast I happened upon called notmtv (or see notmtv.tv) at Revision3.

The show mentioned several bands that you may have heard of including a favorite of mine, Norma Jean. The focus of the show was on a young band called Bless the Fall. Pretty good stuff from what I’ve heard…download the podcast and check it out…pretty interesting.
